General Building Construction 1 introduces learners to the foundational principles and practices involved in building construction. The course focuses on site preparation, basic building materials, simple construction tools, and methods used in low-rise structures. Emphasis is placed on safety, accuracy, and understanding construction drawings.

Learners are equipped with knowledge and practical skills necessary to participate in the early stages of building works. This includes setting out, excavation, foundation construction, and understanding how to interpret simple construction drawings. The course also promotes safety awareness and the development of proper work habits on site.

This unit describes knowledge, skills and attitudes required to apply general aspects of communication, communicate through verbal, written and non-verbal media and apply technology in communication.  

This unit covers the competencies required to effectively use digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop PCs. It entails identifying and using digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and peripheral devices for purposes of communication, work performance and management at the workplace.
